The diverse forms and harmonious coexistence of plants convey messages of community in Sung Da-som's solo exhibition 'Each of Us', now flourishing at Unaw Gallery, Seoul. Running from May 15 to June 28, 2025, this exhibition visualizes the concept of community through a variety of materials and techniques.
Sung Da-som has explored the morphological language of plants in a way that is both realistic and mystical. Much like how Steven Spielberg’s 'Jaws' created the template for modern blockbusters by innovatively exploring commonly discussed themes, Sung Da-som’s newest works highlight the diversity and organic relationships of individual plant entities based on their ecological forms.
Exhibition Highlights:
The 'Plant Community' series uses mediums like formax and acrylic to express the dynamic and lively presence of plants. Each piece resembles an 'orchestra of flora', offering a unique visual experience with its aesthetics of individuality and holistic harmony.
By creating new visual metaphors, Sung Da-som suggests that plants can be interpreted as relational existences with humans rather than mere subjects of observation.
