강해찬의 'Flowing Moonlight' 전시: 감각의 흐름을 담아내다

Haechan Kang's "Flowing Moonlight" Exhibition: Capturing the Flow of Sensation

From July 3 to August 23, 2025, UNAW Gallery in Seoul presents Haechan Kang's solo exhibition "Flowing Moonlight." This exhibition showcases 31 paintings created over the last three years, alongside new works and early drawings, charting Kang's journey of exploring intangible elements of the environment through painting.

Discovering Variations of Sensation in Painting

Kang's artworks capture not specific places, but the air, temperature, and density of light at particular moments. His works create tension at the boundaries between invisibility and visibility. By using interference pigments, which change color and gloss depending on the light angle, Kang transforms his paintings into landscapes of sensation, emphasizing the fluidity of perception.

Encountering Immaterial Sensations

The exhibition is a platform for Kang's experimental approach to visualizing immaterial elements like water, light, and warmth. His paintings capture the blurred chasm between reality and sensation, meticulously filling the canvas with the tangible properties of the atmosphere, such as humidity, scent, and subtle movements. This shifts the artwork from mere visual experience to a structure of sensation and memory.

Layers of Sensation and Time

Recurring motifs of apartment complexes, silhouettes, and branches hint at real landscapes, yet exist as traces of perception rather than symbols.
