《Flowing Moonlight: A Solo Exhibition by Haechan Kang》
UNAW GALLERY presents Flowing Moonlight, a solo exhibition by artist Haechan Kang, spanning from July 3rd to August 23rd, 2025. The exhibition features 31 paintings created between 2022 and 2025, alongside new works and early sketches unveiled for the first time.
Haechan Kang’s practice delves into elements like air, light, and water—intangible yet palpably experiential. His canvases commence from encounters with particular moments in daily life and reconstruct these experiences into visual language. Notably, the exhibition reveals the evolution of Kang's poetic pictorial language, providing a glimpse into his sensory experimentation process via preparatory drawings.
A distinctive aspect of this exhibition is Kang’s use of interference pigments, which shift in color and sheen based on the angle of observation. These materials visualize temporal and fluid dynamics within his works, reminding viewers that his paintings are not fixed images but landscapes of sensory transition.
Kang transforms the familiar landscape genre into a stratum of perception. His canvases capture the air, temperature, and light of specific moments instead of fixed locations.
