Haechan Kang's Solo Exhibition: Seeking Sensory Density - Flowing Moonlight

From July 3 to August 23, 2025, UNAW Gallery presents a solo exhibition of Haechan Kang titled Flowing Moonlight. This exhibition features 31 paintings he has dedicated the last three years to, alongside new works created for this show. Notably, it includes previously unseen early drawings and sketches, providing a rare glimpse into Kang's intimate thought process.

Kang's work transcends the traditional boundaries of painting, expanding visual representation into fields of sensory experience. His paintings capture the fluid qualities of humidity, light, and the fleeting moments that shift between the boundaries of perception. Flowing Moonlight begins with the atmospheres of summer nights and winter evenings, exploring the flows of time and sensation through Kang’s unique pictorial language.

A key technique in his practice involves the use of interference pigments. These materials change hue and sheen with the viewer's angle, reflecting the temporal and fluid nature of the painting. Kang enhances this effect by layering thin sheets of acrylic, subtly exposing the essence of air and the nature of time.
